Jada's fist drawing of a person!

Geez... I can't believe my little girl is growing up. Last Monday my neighbor was over at my house, and I was giving her some computer lessons. Jada was beside us drawing and scribbling away. Then she surprised me by holding up her picture and saying here's a picture of you mom! She's only really drawn scribbles, sometimes circles.. and it just blew me away. She drew her first person!! Pretty good too. She also drew one of my neighbor (who's like a grandma to Jada) and gave it to her. She also drew one of a family..Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad Jada, and Miss Becky! We see Miss Becky and her fam so much, they're just part of our fam! I love being a mom and seeing all of these new changes.. it's so wild!

Ode to Blogging

Okay, as I am starting to get a little more into this blogging thing... I'm thinking about starting up a few fun themes. My first theme is a spin-0ff of my friend Renee and Mia's "Thankful Thursday." I've gotta say, something about gratitude is so invigorating and empowering! This is part one in my "Ode to" series.

Today I'd like to give an Ode to my blogger friends! I'm always amazed that people actually come visit our little site and care about what's going on in our lives! Thanks for caring. As a busy mom, it's so easy to feel disconnected! I love having this outlet to take a few minutes each day to see the wonderful things you are doing, how you are feeling, and envy your great talents!! All my friends are so different, and each of your talents and strengths help me to bring balance into my life. With everything that I lack, I feel like I learn so much from my friends that help fill in the gaps which help me to be a better person and a better mom.

It's also great to know what my dear friends are going through, the good and the bad. It's wonderful to cheer you on in your accomplishments and relish in your happy times with you, and be able to hear of struggles and discouragements so I know when to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, and remember you in my prayers.

Thanks to my rockin friends! You all make me feel so blessed.

Duckpin Bowling

To those of you who have never been Duckpin Bowling, here's the info! Duckpin bowling has smaller lanes and smaller balls and super easy for kids. You don't need bowling shoes. They can set it up for you so that the bumper will come up only when it is the kids turn. It's fun for adults too... and kinda challenging because you have to do it a little differently than bowling... I usually put a little spin on the ball to curve around when I bowl, and sometimes I accidentally do that when I go duckpin bowling... which gives me tons of gutter balls. You have to do it right down the middle for this game. Jada's actually beat Shane and I a couple of times. We've been doing this since Jada was probably 2. Here's a pic of Jada one of our first times duckpin bowling.

The bowling center is in Franklin off of 96. Here's the website: http://www.jaymarfec.com/franklin.html Just about every time we've gone, the duckpin bowling has been completely empty and we've had the whole room to ourselves. Guess not too many people know about it?

It's $3 per person for 1 game. It really is a blast! We keep talking about getting some other folks to come join us. It really is fun.

Happy Mother's Day!!

I still have over 8 hours of Mother's Day left (13 if I pretend to be on Hawaii time), and I'm determined to milk it up until the very end. ;) It's been fun and Shane and Jada have really spoiled me rotten this year. I have to brag a little (okay.. maybe a lot) I totally don't expect this kind of treatment every year, but Shane decided to make it a really special Mother's Day this year by doing a little countdown to Mother's Day. He made a little poem and a little surprise each day for 6 days.

6 days to go: 6 of my favorite cookies.
5 : 5 of my favorite chocolates
4: Four new romantic comedies
3: Triple Chocolate Ice Cream Bars
2: Double layer Chocolate Mousse (hmmm... I think he's trying to fatten me up or something!)
1: 1 Dozen Roses delivered to the door (Funny thing is, they accidentally sent me 2 dozen!)

For Mother's Day, I had some delicious cut up fruit for breakfast in bed. Yesterday Shane picked up one of my favorites: Garlic Chicken Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza, and we made it for dinner today.... oh so yummy, and oh so nice not to have stuff to clean up on Sunday and just spend time with my fam!

He let me sleep in yesterday morning till 10:30... Oh my, I can't remember how long it's been since I've done that. That was so nice. And yesterday we all went out for a fun family round of duckpin bowling. If you've never done that, it's so fun. There's a family bowling alley up in Franklin... and now it's the law for them to be completely smoke free at all times of day. So it's really great!

I was asked to speak in church today about Motherhood, and it really was so nice (for starters... definitely a nice excuse to get us all to be super early for once!) But it was so nice to have the opportunity to reflect on all of the wonderful blessings of motherhood. It really is so great, I can't imagine doing anything else.

In Primary, they asked all of the kids a couple of questions about their Mom's, and then wrote it down for the mom's for mother's day. When I read Jada's and some of the other kids responses, I was laughing so hard I was almost crying. Here's Jada's questions and answers:

1) What makes your mom really happy?
"My mom gets really sad when she puts me in time out - then I give her a hug and tell her sorry and she's happy."
2) What does your mom like to do for fun?
"We go to the play park together and she push me on the swing!"
3) What does your mom like ot get for Mother's Day?
"She loves to get a card"
4) What does your mom tell you to do all the time?
"She tells me to have a pizza party!" (You think maybe we have "pizza parties" at our house too much?)
5) If your mom was a piece of candy, what kind of candy would she be? Why?
"Suckers, I like suckers and so does my mom." (Shane says its because all she has to do is bat her cute little eyes at me and I turn into one! It's true)

She also said about me, "She doesn't say naughty words - she says nice words!"

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL MOTHER'S OUT THERE!

Jada at 3 1/2

I used to like to scrapbook, but I have found, I just don't have the time for it! I love to blog, so I'm hoping that blogger thing is around forever.... because this is the only journaling / photo cataloging that I have any time or patience for!

Jada is now 3 1/2 and I thought I'd post 10 fun facts about Jada....

1) I call her "sweetie" so much she thinks it's part of her identity. She'll sometimes refers to herself as "little sweetie"

2) She's obsessed with lipgloss... and she's too good at sneaking it out of my bathroom!

3) She can't wait to be a big sister. She decided that mom and dad are taking WAY too long to make her a sibling, so she's taken matters into her own hands. Everyone, meet the newest addition to our family. This is Jada's self appointed new baby sister, Emily Elizabeth.  (We recently put the crib back together for baby Lissie when she comes to visit - but Jada decided it would make the perfect bed for her new sister. She even made up Emily's bed all by herself)

4) She's proud of her big girl panties and will gladly show you.

5) She's got a sense of humor. When my mom was out here she was showing her her underwear and had it hiked up really high. Shane said, "Pull those down... they look like Grammie panties!" Then my mom said, "Hey! I resent that!" We laughed but figured it blew right over Jada's head. Then later, while we were on our trip, Jada hiked up her panties again and said to Grammie, "Are these Grammie panties?" And then danced around the room with her hiked up panties while giggling... thinking she was just the funniest thing in the world! My mom's jaw just dropped!

5) She's my mini-me. She loves to follow me around all day and loves to do everything that I do. She vacuums, irons, cooks, shops, makes her to-do lists, blow-dries her hair when I do, is my little workout and jogging buddy, sweeps and mops the floor.  It takes me a heck of a lot longer trying to get things done with my helper! But I have really grown to love her company and I love teaching her new things.

6) She's part magician.... somehow little fingerprints show up all around my house.  And it freaks me out because I have no idea what she possibly could have gotten into without me knowing!

8) She is both shy and outgoing.  Sometimes she'll be as quiet as a mouse around people that she doesn't know well, but other times when we are at the park or McDonalds, she'll go well out of her way to try to find a new little friend to pal around with.

9) She has such a sweet spirit! Sometimes says that she misses Heavenly Father and Jesus, and with tears in her eyes says that she wishes she could see them.  She also loves the Book of Mormon and her scriptures and can sense it is an important book. Last night she took out her little Book of Mormon and "read" it to her teddy bear before going to bed.

10) She is a girly-girl! Anything pink, purple, sparkly, ruffly, fluffy, princessy... If I'd let her, she'd change her cloths 20 times a day (I'm  already scared for teenage years...) What more to say... she's a girly girl! Once I put her to bed in a free t-shirt someone gave me (had some orange and green on it) She fussed with me saying she didn't want to wear it, but of course I wouldn't take her guff and made her wear it to bed. The next morning she said, "Mommy, can I take this off so I'm not a boy anymore!"

3 1/2... It will come and go in the blink of an eye... treasure these moments!
